Welcome Back!
Welcome back to school!
Mrs. Hall and I are busy getting the library ready for you. We have some new things happening in the library this year:
*The Motto Directors--Mr. Thompson and Mrs. Zumchak--have their office in the library.
*We have carved out two sections for graphic novels, as we are getting more in!
*There is a work space for teachers in the library.
The library is open today, tomorrow and Friday from 7 until 4, as Mrs. Hall and I are still working on textbooks. We will resume our regular 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. hours next week, as well as be open to study halls, starting Monday, September 8th.
I will be accepting Book Bingo game boards until Friday, September 12th. If you've read 5 or more books this summer, please stop down to fill out a game board. Everyone gets a prize for participating and we will be drawing for gift certificates on Monday, September 15th.

How to Cover a Textbook
Below are some ideas on how to cover a textbook. We ask that you please don't use the stretchy covers, they actually damage the book binding. Covering your book is the best way to keep your book protected and you may avoid getting your textbook mixed up with your classmates. I have links to a few different options, some basic others a little more elaborate. Come on into the Library and show me your original home made designs!

Book Bingo
I've had a bit of a epiphany while filling out my Book Bingo Board this summer: it's very difficult to do!
I am changing the rules of the game: As long as you have a traditional bingo on your Book Bingo Board, you can pick from the Prize Box and have your name entered into the drawing for a gift card.
Did you fill the whole board? You get to enter the drawing FIVE times.
You can start bringing your Book Bingo forms back when you come to pick up textbooks.
Misplace your board? Click here to get a new one: http://olmlibrary.blogspot.com/2014/06/summer-book-bingo-board.html
See you next week!

I know TBF is 9 months away, but if you are as excited for the festival as I am, you are probably wondering who will be presenting! Some of my summer reading has been to read the books of the authors coming to #TBF2015
Check out the list of authors here: http://www.teenbookfestival.org/

Ransom Riggs Rocks!!
I just finished reading (and loving) the first two books in the series by Ransom Riggs; Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Hollow City. What was most intriguing about this thrilling fantasy is that the story is weaved around a strange collection of vintage photographs. You are quickly pulled into the story of young Jacob and his adventures to discover what secrets his grandfather was trying to share. I included the book trailer for Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I am sure that this will lure you in. I can not wait for the next book!

Another Librarian Recommendation
I hope you are having an excellent summer break!
The Fire Wish by Amber Lough will be released on July 22. Zayele's family have made an agreement with the royal family of Baghdad. As part of the agreement, Zayele is to marry the Prince. Marriage is the last thing on Zayele's mind, and when she gets a chance to capture a Jinni, she wishes herself out of the deal. The only problem is that Najwa, the Jinni, takes Zayele's place.
The Fire Wish has action, adventure and a little romance. This is a great choice if you enjoy fantasy books. I would recommend it for grades 9 and up. - Mrs. Rouleau
